Color Personality Winners and Losers

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Many moons ago I created the “I ♥ Color” Series for The Land of Color’s Pinterest board. It’s been a lot of fun watching the colors get pinned and reading the comments. When the purple color personality hit the 2,000-times-pinned mark I thought it might be interesting to rank the colors from most to least favorite.

Let me remind you that this is completely unscientific. Colorgraphically Speaking™ is a nod to the fact that this is purely my Color Point of View at play. Even though I totally get into the serious color stuff, can’t be all serious all the time. Otherwise there would be no fun in @funcolors. #balance

The profiles were all pinned at different times so some have been up longer than others. In addition, I wrote each of the color profiles based on color friends I know on and offline. When reading posts on decorating forums in particular I often think to myself this person is a “pink” color personality (for example) and lots of times I end up being correct. Maybe it’s a method of organization or categorizing. Dunno, but I can promise that no studies were referenced or harmed in the making of this series.

So – what do you think? Agree or disagree with the ranking?

  1. No idea what I would be. I could be several. Every one of my houses has had different color schemes. All I know is that I could not live with everything white. It would drive me crazy. Thanks for stopping by. So nice to see the variety of color ideas here. Jane

  2. My favorite color is blue & purple combined 🙁 I’d love to see more color personalities, I know my best friends favorite is a yellow & orange combo.

    1. Hi Nic,

How interesting! So, I assume blue & purple combined is like a violet or periwinkle.

Since I totally made all of these up, not one shred of scientific anything is involved (well, maybe a touch of color association and psychology), I can certainly write up a few for “combined” colors as you suggest. Thanks for the great feedback.

  3. My absolute favorite has always been Magenta. I’ve loved it since I got my first box of 64 crayons. I even loved the name. As a child I used to walk around saying Magenta because I loved the way it rolled around my mouth!hahahaha I love your color scheme #33 because it combines all my favorite colors. But at the same time, there is really no color that I don’t like some shade of. My least favorite are yellow and orange, but there are even shades of those (banana, tangerine, coral) that I love. My other all time favorite, that is easier on the system than Magenta, is harder to find. It is not quite peach, and not quite pink. If you put peach with it, it reads as peach, if you put pink with it, it reads as pink. Its not blush, that’s too washed out. All I know is when I wear that color, people always say how wonderful I look. I wish I’d cut a swatch from it before I had to get rid of the last dress I had in that color (I literally wore it out!) because it is so difficult to find the perfect shade….. I love your site by the way! But even though I love, love colors, in my home I tend toward neutrals with just small pops of color, because otherwise I find the environment too invigorating, and I like my home to be a soothing oasis of calm.
