What is the Color Category?
OFF-WHITE – Because of its Value of 9.43 and Chroma of 0.68.
You could call White Flour the quintessential off-white. What makes a color off-white and not white is its Value and Chroma and this color sits comfortably in the middle of the Off-White Color Category in both Value and Chroma.
In terms of hue, it’s on the warmer side of the Yellow hue family. It doesn’t sit too close to the Yellow-Red hue family so moments of peachy-ness are unlikely.
Sherwin-Williams doesn’t have a color named “Swiss Coffee” like many other brands do.
However, White Flour’s color characteristics align with other brand’s Swiss Coffee colors. It’s similar. So similar we can safely say that White Flour is Sherwin-Williams Swiss Coffee paint color.
How can we so clearly and concisely categorize color of whites and off-whites? Because we have hue, value, chroma and LRV color notations that describe what colors look like. So, we can easily eliminate confusion and chaos. Making the task of sorting and categorizing paint colors fun and an absolute pleasure:
