Emmie’s Room MAG016 Color Review
Because we know how to define and describe color using objective, scientific color measurements, I get a lot of emails about the Magnolia Home paint colors.Â
The biggest complaint I hear is the online representations of the paint colors on the Magnolia Home website are misleading and people are disappointed with how the colors look in real life once they receive their order.
If you want to know why paint colors online don’t look like in-real-life colors, I have a free Lesson in my “How to Make Paint Blobs in Photoshop” course that explains why it’s impossible to duplicate in-real life paint colors online.
The only way to solve that problem is to use a color notation that describe the color for you – in detail – by hue family, value, chroma and LRV.
And that’s what we do here at Camp Chroma. We are color notation experts and we specialize in illustrating those color notations in the form of our Colorographies like you see above.
Emmie’s Room belongs to the Green-Yellow hue family. In a balanced light source, it’s going to look like a cool, light green.Â
Don’t be surprised, however, if it shifts and looks blue-ish. We know near neutrals like Emmie’s Room from the Green-Yellow hue family can shift and indeed look blue-ish.
That doesn’t mean it has blue “undertones”. The theory that paint colors have undertones is based on subjective opinion. Which is very different from the color science we use here at Camp Chroma.
You’ll want to test this color carefully in your space to see how it responds to the light you have to work with.
